LIONHEART / TREBA BITI LAV

Sabrina Begović Ćorić
2015, 23 min.
Documentary

After the war, anarchy and bad management of executive authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina created a perfect platform for the development of human trafficking business. Women from Moldova, Ukraine and Romania were being tricked and transported to Bosnia and Herzegovina where they became slaves to night club owners.

A first - hand retelling of the post - war sociopolitical situation in the country by social workers, the narrative is intertwined with a portrait of a woman from Moldova, who in the pursuit of a better life becomes a victim of human trafficking. Her violent and harrowing years of slavery seem to be finished when she ends up in a small town in northeastern Bosnia where one of her clients falls in love with her and buys her freedom so that they can marry.
